i don't know about Miatas, but for Hondas you can get a billet flywheel that's lighter and around the same price.are you possibly using the stock flywheel to be in line with rules?there used to be several places(nowhere in our area though)that did it,but as cheap as aftermarket flywhels have gotten,i haven't heard much about it anymore.i'd say any decent machine shop could do it,but there is some amount of science to it,as you don't want to sacrifice the durability of it.

miata flywheels are still in the 3-400 range. when i can get this done for like 85.. nothing to do with rules, just for fun.

There is a decent automotive machine shop I have used a couple of times on Rt 11 behind Snyders auto sales about a mile after you get into Harrisonburg coming from the north. He rebuilt a head on a Supra I had awhile back and did a wheel bearing on my MR2. I cant find the name or number right now but it is not hard to find if you drive down.

Now that I think about it. The shop I am talking about behind Snyder's was the old A C Delco store. The machine shop is in the back half of that building. If you pull up there it looks like it is closed and out of buisness but Kenny is running his shop in the back. You have to go in through the door on the side facing Rt 11
